Cold box, within a cold box, within a warm box…
Our fridge died about three weeks ago. About two weeks ago, the service guy looked at it and said “the compressor is dead”. Today, the technician came back with parts in hand and welded in a new compressor. Our fridge is once again making itself cold inside.
Merry Christmas
Its Christmas Day here, and I’m just starting to wake up on my second cup of coffee. Maybe by the third or fourth cup I’ll be truly in the spirit of the season 🙂 Irene is “bah humbug”ing because she has come down with a cold, and I’m complacent in the knowledge that I will have it soon as well. But there are folks out there with real problems, and my wife and I are incredibly lucky in so many ways that it defies counting.
Christmas season…
I’m feeling reasonably “jolly” this Christmas season, but for some reason I’m not feeling very “christmassy”. I tried to go out and do some Christmas shopping, but I just couldn’t overcome a sense of comfortable lethargy…I think I’ll have to take Irene out after Christmas on a shopping spree or something, as I’ve only found her one gift.
Farewell, Uncle Charlie
My Uncle Charlie passed away yesterday.
He’s survived by my Aunt Marion (shown in the picture above) and sons, Reggie and Rocky Gillies.
Some days it doesn’t pay to get out of bed…
I was driving in to work this morning…the usual stop and go on Highway 1. I had just entered the highway and noticed traffic had come to a complete stop. I came to a complete stop, and a second later my car was propelled forward a couple yards into the car in front of me…the guy behind hadn’t noticed that the traffic wasn’t moving.
The Moon…
We had a full moon last night, and I decided to try some (totally informal) experimenting in “astrophotography”
I took this picture with my Canon digital SLR and a 75-300 mm zoom lens. I cropped the original image and applied some simple lighting adjustments to improve the contrast.
Airshow…
Yesterday was the day Chris and I went to the Abbotsford airshow. Its one of our traditions, and one that I really enjoy. I’ve placed a ton of pictures in the album…
Chris’ visit; our trip to the lake
My friend Chris is out here on the coast visiting. We went today to Harrison Lake and rented a boat. I’m slightly sun and wind burnt, and a bit tired, but it was a hoot.
(more…)Anniversary celebration
July 31st is the date that my sister Judy and her husband Bryan got married. 40 years have passed since that fateful day (“It was a dark and stormy night…“), and Judy organized a big get together to celebrate. But being the kind of person she is, she expanded the party to include celebration of Shane and Monique’s wedding as well as Irene and my wedding…all based on the fact that we were married sometime in July.
