Back in June my doctor requested a CT (computed or computed axial tomography) scan of my neck regarding some persistant pain and occasional numbness of my right arm. With our great waiting lists here, my scan is scheduled for bright and early tomorrow morning, January 3rd…about six months after he made the request. This is the first time I’ve gone in for anything more complicated than a simple X-Ray.
Irene (my wife) started coming down with a cold/flu thing on Christmas Eve. Naturally, I started getting sick on Boxing day. And now I have a roaring great cold.
You know, the usual…feverish (peaked at 101.2), sore throat, headache, stuffy. This one is generating a great hacking cough, so stuff is settling in my lungs. I’ve had to cancel the get-together we were planning for this weekend- I can’t see myself being up to cooking for folks, nor do I imagine folks would want me cooking for them.
Folks who visit my site regularly know that I have been following the career of Teresa Noreen for some months now. Just type “Teresa” in my search box here and you’ll see a half dozen or so postings about the Geek Goddess. She’s a busy woman, as the postings in her Myspace blog can attest to.
I finally got around to finishing what I started back in July and now all my old articles are available.

Well, I’ve resisted for quite a while, but I’ve decided to add Google AdSense to my site.
What will this mean? If you are familiar with AdSense, what I’ll be doing is setting things up so that Google will place some relevant links on my page. “Relevant” is based on Google’s analysis of the words and context on my site- in my experience, its reasonably accurate.
I’m feeling reasonably “jolly” this Christmas season, but for some reason I’m not feeling very “christmassy”. I tried to go out and do some Christmas shopping, but I just couldn’t overcome a sense of comfortable lethargy…I think I’ll have to take Irene out after Christmas on a shopping spree or something, as I’ve only found her one gift.
I have always liked science fiction. One of the first books I read after “Clifford the Dog” were some old Tom Swift books…then on to Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlan, Arthur C. Clarke, Pohl Anderson, Clifford Simak…all the usual suspects.
Tomorrow is Remembrance Day. I’m more or less anti-war, pro-peace. But I have a ton of respect for people who serve their country and put themselves in harms way.
I’m prone to forget what Remembrance Day is all about- I don’t think I’m alone in that. But I really shouldn’t ever forget- my Mom is a World War II veteran. She served overseas as part of Canada’s armed forces. A volunteer like all women, she chose to disrupt her life, to take the risk.
I visit the Tom’s Hardware site periodically for computer hardware reviews. But they’ve spun off some related sites recently, including one called “Den Guru” that focuses on home electronics.
