We had a full moon last night, and I decided to try some (totally informal) experimenting in “astrophotography”

I took this picture with my Canon digital SLR and a 75-300 mm zoom lens. I cropped the original image and applied some simple lighting adjustments to improve the contrast.

The camera was on a tripod and, since I don’t have a camera remote control, I used the count down timer to reduce vibration. I also took about 20 other photos of the same scene- most (more than half) didn’t turn out at all as I was experimenting in ignorance with different camera settings.
