Humanity has made a mess of the world over the last couple of centuries or so. We’ve also experienced an unprecedented amount of progress on many fronts. Halting our destruction of the environment is mandatory if we want to continue surviving on this planet, but halting all technological progress is also not the outcome I’d like to see.
Sometimes we make good choices as a society. And sometimes… we go completely backwards.
This is a bad choice: Coal is not something we should be mining or using at all, and is definitely not something we should be expanding operations around. I am sickened to see this kind of decision being made by a majority vote.
I don’t really have much more to say about this as I don’t want to start insulting people who probably think they are doing something good for their community. Other than to add this picture of what a mountain will look like after a few years of mining.
